Assist in promoting hazardous waste generator compliance through field-work, primarily commercial office inspections. Support and assist full-time staff with various aspects of the waste management program by extracting, interpreting, and organizing electronic data and text. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: . Valid Driver's License . College Coursework in related field such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, geology, hydrology, civil or environmental engineering, environmental and public health, or natural resources. . Interest or preferably experience in environmentally related work Preferred: . College Graduate in related field such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, geology, hydrology, civil or environmental engineering, environmental and public health, or natural resources. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position's management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

Assist with solid and hazardous waste program needs such as outreach on new solid and hazardous waste requirements, research and promotion of demolition and industrial waste recycling and reuse, and program regulatory issues as needed.

Opportunities to work in the field with inspectors are available when possible.

Participate in department outreach activities such as household hazardous waste collection events and other special events, as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: . Good organizational, written, and verbal skills . Literacy in desk-top computer use . Physically able to perform inspections in a commercial, and possibly, industrial setting . Experience with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and electronic data files WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in County Office buildings and outdoors. Driving is required. Employee will be frequently required to work in outside weather conditions, being exposed to cold and hot temperatures, precipitation, direct sunlight, wind, dust, and pollen. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Lifting requirement, up to 20 pounds, on an occasional basis.
